May 2026 Prayer Letter
Dear Friends and Family,
In this prayer letter we want to share stories about some brothers and sisters at Grace Church Chiang Mai where we worship and serve.
Sunday Worship at Grace Church Chiang Mai
Kayley gave her husband a second chance and welcomed him into the family home after he got out of jail. He had found Christ while behind bars and was so thankful for the opportunity to put his family back together. He brought his wife and their two daughters to Grace Church Chiang Mai. They were hesitant at first but they started to come every Sunday, especially because the children really enjoyed Sunday school. Kayley got baptized this past year. Several months later, she discovered she was pregnant with their third child. Finances were tight and she thought to get an abortion. But many of us at church advised her to keep the baby. Last month, some church members and I threw her a baby shower. She was really touched. Their older daughter Rose shared that she’d never been shown such love and attention. Unbeknownst to us, Kayley and her husband had not been talking to each other for weeks. However, he came to the shower after Karl reached out with a personal invitation. God showed His grace in bringing him there. Please pray for this family.
Meanwhile in Sunday school at Grace Church, the children are lapping up the teachings of Scripture. Rose, in particular, has been attentive to the the Word of God. Another young boy shared that he now believes in Jesus (after saying previously that he was not ready to follow Jesus). It’s been a month since he said that, and so far he is showing fruit that he believes.
This year in Sunday school, the other teachers and I (Sun) are teaching the children how to do inductive Bible study. It’ll be the last year of Sunday school for many of them as they age out of the children program. It is our prayer that they will learn it well so that they will be able to read, understand, and apply the Word of God for themselves— for the rest of their lives. One of the children in the class is a shy young boy with a speech issue. He rarely spoke in class. Yet through prayer and our encouragement, he prayed aloud for the first time this Sunday— and audibly, too! Praise the Lord! Working with the Thai people is slow-going. Discipleship takes time. Many people in Thailand are in messy, complex relationships. Yet we see the Word of God slowly working in people and their relationships. The names mentioned above are pseudonyms to give them privacy, but the people are real. We see them week after week. We talk with them, laugh with them, cry with them, and pray for them.
Sun helps the children at Grace Church Chiang Mai learn inductive Bible study
You have an instrumental role in what is going on in Kayley’s life, in Rose’s life, and in the lives of many others here in Thailand. Your prayer, encouragement, and financial support makes it possible for us to serve them here in Chiang Mai.
Romans 10:13-15 reminds us that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
You send us. We preach Christ. And people are getting saved. Thank you for participating in God’s redemptive work in Thailand. He is moving in powerful ways. Glory be to God and God alone!
by Christ's grace,
Karl & Sun Dahlfred
