(John 10:10 [KJV])
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. I would have to agree with all you write until you come to the purpose of Jesus. At that point I would not wish to disagree but rather to add a little. I do not think a simple phrase or sentence can express all that Jesus came to do. He came to make all things new and that covers just about everything! I do believe He came to be a model. He also came to be a Saviour. He also came to destroy the works of the devil. He also came to give us abundant life. Abundant life is a life that is free from selfishness - a focus on one's self and one's body. It is abundant because it is not focused on self but on Him who is the Fountain of its Life. It expresses its abundance by pouring forth the joy of fellowship with the Triune God through prayers, hymns, and acts of mercy and kindness to all mankind. As for your main emphasis that words are needed to explain the Good News, I fully agree. A picture is worth a thousand words but a picture with a caption is worth much, much more.

...
It does say "When necessary, use words", not "it's not necessary to use words". The implication doesn't seem to be that it's possible to spread the gospel in its entirety without using words, but that it is necessary to not only employ words, but our entire lives. The quote implies that it WILL be necessary to use words.
The flip-side of the coin is those who talk the talk without walking the walk, and that, I think, is who this quote is directed at.
